Surely every managers brief is to not go down?

Re: West Ham would "deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go"
A new man's brief would be to unify the fans and DO NOT GO DOWN! No pressure at all. Who wants it then?

Re: West Ham would "deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go"
It's simple why a top manager won't join at this time, there's still plenty of addition to be made to the squad and it's at least another couple of summer windows of decent investment before a top manager could have the basis of a strong squad to build on from.

I hope this summers window shows real intent from the club about what they see as a team that befits the new stadium. Until this is seen by the football community we are the same old West Ham with a half decent team on it's day but a shit squad to back it up.

Sydney - You have tied yourself in knots there fella.

The only bit I agree with is your last sentence, which is why I wish these fuckers would just come out and announce something now. All this end of the season bollocks is a nonsense. We aint getting into Europe and we are not going down, so I'm failing to see how waiting until the last ball has been kicked benefits anyone. All we are getting now is specualtion almost every day which is getting very tiresome. Just get on with it, either way ffs.

Re: West Ham would "deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go"
I think when we are at the OS it’s a different story but currently I cant see the likes of Benitez, Klopp or the ever mentioned Bilic taking us on, I would like to be wrong though, then there may be a few other high profile managers looking for jobs in the not too distant future as well with Pelegrini and Ancelotti on thin ice at Man City and Madrid but my moneys on a big club manager merry go round rather than any of this lot coming to West Ham.

So my money is on Sam staying unless he pulls the plug, but if he does, then wont suprise me to see "Arry" back, be gobsmacked if its a Klopp or Benitez.......

But then what the fuck do i or any of us really know.

Re: West Ham would "deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go"
Given that we are prepared to pay at least Top 20 in the world in terms of salary and are about to move into a spanking a new stadium why do people believe our realistic choices are so limited?

It should be a dream job for any ambitious manager. Even if our transfer budget is not of Champion's League proportions it is hardly bargain basement these days.

Let's hope their is vision in the club beyond the oft repeated, unimaginative mantra of 'must have Premier League' experience.

Re: West Ham would "deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go"
I have to agree, as much as it pains me to say it, Sams the man (for now).

The grass me thinks will be no greener with a new manager, I also cant see a manager out there who we could realistically get, there are a few in lower leagues like Eddie Howe but i think unless he misses promotion he wont be going anywhere anyway, and would be massive punt IMO and at this point in our history not something we should consider.

Re: West Ham would "deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go"
There are two types of 'media' people who support BFS and cannot/ are not prepared to see it from a supporter's point of view.

The first are from the cadre of ex-player/ managers who are a chummy closed shop and, with few exceptions, rarely say anything bad about another member of the profession.

The second are the jobbing journos who pump out content to fill the ever expanding space available and will make a judgement based solely on paper. This would simply look at WHU's position now against history and conclude job well done.

I think he went on to establish them firmly in the premiership after that - from memory.

I think you can argue that he may not be the right man to take us forward. You can argue that he is an arrogant fuck. You could argue that he is not right for west ham. You can criticise his style of play.

But let's not pretend he is shit at his job when a huge amount of evidence says otherwise.

If he were at another football club we'd be saying what a good job he is doing and laughing at the fickle fans (exactly as a lot of us did when he was up at Newcastle).

Re: West Ham would "deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go"
That's a ridiculous thing to say because Bolton did beat us 1-0. It was a huge game and Allardyce guided Bolton to a deserved victory. They outplayed us on the day.

Hate Allardyce as much as you like but don't change history!

KingandPaynter 3:14 Wed Mar 25
Re: West Ham would "deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go"
People forget that if it wasn't for us losing 1 - 0 up at Bolton back in the Roeder days BFS would have gone down with them instead of us. If Brooking had taken over earlier we would not have gone down and Bolton would have so all this "Allardyce is a saviour" is bollocks.

His track-record perhaps.

I'd say we were more unlucky than lcky last year. We had a shower of shit available in the middle of the season.

We were poor at the end but we were virtually safe by March after a good February,

I'm exactly with Ham.

They could have got rid of him last summer but chose to keep him. I think they also kept mangers through relegation at Brum, almost unheard of these days.

The Rash Decision Of Keeping Avram Grant when we was all but doomned to relegation at Christmas springs to mind.

Wed have to pay the cunt compensation. Force him to work and then make fatty walk. I'll be glad to see him go, as long as a replacement is in place.

Side of Ham 12:32 Wed Mar 25
Re: West Ham would "deeply regret letting Sam Allardyce go"
Just look at the owners record for managers and then look at when they've moved onto a new manager and the circumstances. Then finally look at the importance in particular of next season, they cannot contemplate even a possibility of a relegation due to them going against the grain of what they've done in the past with managers. They fuck up when they make rash decisions, if Sam goes it will because we'll have a world class managerial replacement lined up or Sam's demands are beyond ridiculous.

Neither look likely, and the managers being bounded about on here fall short.

Again, I'd still like to know why binning allardyce seems to mean guaranteed relegation.

He was lucky last season and sullivans buys have been the difference this season.
Thanks, but at the end of the session is time to move on
